Then you have 24 inputs to use for tracking and as many tracks as you want in Studio One. just do it in studio One and monitor it all thru the S1 MAIN outputs assigned to the monitor module FW input on the 2442 to get this to your studio monitors and headphones. it is just an interface! so running the recorded tracks back into the mixer channels will not give you more control at all. Keep in mind the 2442 is NOT a controller for Studio One. Latency may also be an issue depending on your system and how you set it up. You might have to experiment with your headphones and monitoring to get it right. You make headphone mixes for the musicians to over dub to with these. these you will use as your headphone sends to the headphone distro system. make a few mono or stereo bus in the S1 mixer. if you have the latest version of S1 you also have the same fat channel plug ins as you do on the board if you want em! in the I/O you can see it has all the aux outputs. just use the MIAN bus in Studio One and return that on the FW in the control room monitor module on the 2442 so you can monitor the mix on your studio monitors and be able to SOLO tracks etc. I would not recommend using it to mix on or bring your tracks back as you will probably need and use more than 24 tracks once you get going with over dubs etc. What you do with the board is use it as an interface into Studio One. You should have your studio monitors connected to the MONITOR outputs NOT the MAINS. then you need to set up your I/O to feed these.
the 2442 has AUX mixes you can designate as headphone feeds but you will need and IEM system or some type of multi headphone amp/distro like the Presonus HP4 or HP60.
to do over dubs you need to use headphone mixes and monitor what is recorded as you lay down the next layers.
is a bit different deal that just capturing a live event. recording with overdubs and adding things etc. name all your channels and SAVE AS TEMPLATE so you have that custom version to start all your recordings, once you start a new session from your custom Template rename and save AS with a new name so it leaves your Template intact. This normally means that the mixer is sitting like a computer would not able to "find an operating system." In this case, there are only two options to attempt to correct this.Ī.) A classic StudioLive 16.4.2 mixer or a StudioLive 24.4.2 interacts differently then the StudioLive AI Series Consoles do.
